Sounds good, durable materials, eye-catching and not to large. A bit pricey but worth it. Fits nice in a corner of the kitchen.
However, it has limited bass response and sound dull when the megabass is turned on.When I tried to use the distributed software to create a mp3 disk, just got junk, the music sounded very wierd. This player has worked well for 4 months. I have not experimented with creating another mp3 disk.
As I look at this Amazon listing right now it says the price on this is $199.99- there is only 1 seller offering it, value-warehouse. Maybe sometimes Amazon has it at a more reasonable price from other sellers, as I see other reviews have mentioned 'for under $100' but it's showing at $199.99 now and that is a ridiculous price.Hope this helps someone. This is the first time I've written one of these and it's not to give a review as I don't have it yet- But I thought I had to warn people NOT TO BUY IT FROM THIS SELLER (value-warehouse)- YOU ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF. Well Target has it for $70, so what's with the huge difference there.
I would not reccomend this unit. After contacting Sony they requested I ship the unit to Texas (they begrudgingly provided shipping costs) and offered me a refurbished unit to replace my brand new one. I tried two brand new cds right out of their packaging. As it turns out this unit is no longer in stock so Sony offered me a refund minus my shipping and handling costs and sales tax paid. This "boombox" never worked right out of the box. The cd player was unable to read any type of cd. I rejected this "generous offer" and requested a new replacement unit.
The sound is a little muddy. Does not come with a cord. The sound is what I expected from a radio with 4" speakers, but mid's and lows (vocals and bass) are a bit muddy. Great cd playback options and a great remote. It's also deeper than it appears, so if you're setting it on a shelf - be sure to measure.Overall, I'm happy and would buy it again. Ipod playback was perfect.A few things to consider.
There are better sounding radios out there, but I needed something small so this was a compromise.Reception could be better, but I could blame this on my walls, as my other tuners don't work too well either - but my two clock radio's tune in stations better than this radio, and they don't have external antenna's - and I'm two miles from Manhattan. There is a handle on the unit, though it doesn't show in the picture. I bought this so I could listen to music in my kitchen. The line in for an ipod is a single line in, I think 1/4 inch plug - not RCA's. If you compare it to a decent home stereo, it sounds horrible, if you compare it to a clock radio it sounds great.
